Chugach State Park, Anchorage, AK
When you think Alaska, you think glaciers and wildlife. By being one of the 4th largest state parks in the U.S., The Church State Park is only about 7 miles away from downtown Anchorage. Over 495,000 acres of land, this park includes ocean, lakes, ice fields, and of course glaciers. It’s so large, it spans over to Canada. It can hold both the entire city of New York and the entire city of Los Angeles!
Other outdoor activities are easily accessible too, such as biking, hiking, camping, glacier gazing and wildlife watching. There are over 45 different species and mammals including brown bears and moose. Nearly 280 miles of area trails to travel the park. Berry picking from the alpine meadows is just another activity, prime time in summer. Don’t forget your camera, there is plenty of breathtaking views to capture this scenery.
